Review Ideas from Personal Finance Teachers

Teachers in the NGPF community are a wealth of knowledge! If you're finishing up your school year, here are some creative review ideas Virtual PD attendees have shared.

1. Vocabulary Card Sort

Create a deck of vocabulary terms and a deck of definitions. Split the class into teams that race each other to match up the correct cards.

See our Personal Finance Dictionary for terms.

2. Review Bingo

Put questions and answers into a Bingo Board Generator website, such as this one in Canva.

3. Jenga

Write a question on each Jenga block that students have to answer when they pull that block during the game.

Pro tip: To simplify prep and reuse the blocks, you can also write a number on each block that corresponds to a numbered Question Sheet.

4. Reverse Jeopardy

Give students the vocabulary terms and have them write a question to go along with it. Bonus: This can be used to create a Jeopardy review game.

P.S. We have a ready-to-go Jeopardy!-style review in the Course Materials section of each course.

5. Six-Word Stories

Students write 6-word stories on key personal finance concepts.

See the inspo for this idea: Six-Word Memoirs

6. Sharks and Minnows

In a large space, mark areas for each answer choice (either A, B, C,D or True/ False). Ask a question and students run to their answer area.

Until they’re in the correct answer area, they are not safe and can be tagged.

7. Jigsaw

Divide the class into groups. Each group is assigned a different topic to become experts in. Then, shuffle the groups and have students share our their expertise.

8. Anchor Charts

Students summarize key concepts on posters that go up around the room.

9. Myth or Fact

Create a series of statements. Students must determine if they are myth or fact.

If you need some inspiration to get started, check out this past post: Play True or False with Nerdwallet and NGPF.
